From Ellen Gabriel:
I have been informed that this week Enbridge will be heading into traditional Kanehsatà:ke Mohawk Territory: Oka Park or Parc National d'Oka to inspect their lines without our free prior and informed consent. The Government of Canada, and Quebec continue to ignore our rights to what is the place of our traditional settlement, including ignoring our rights to have Free Prior and Informed Consent to any development or activity. Canada, Quebec and Enbridge as well as, Gazoduc have not given any royalties to the Kanehsatà:ke Mohawk community.
On July 11th will be the 23rd Anniversary of the Oka/Kanehsatà:ke Crisis of 1990 which lasted 78 days. While I realize that it is short notice, it would be of benefit to Kanehsatà'kehró:non to do a demonstration at the Oka Park to protest against all the resources and thefts ofour lands.
